Ok so Birmingham didn’t win the first UK City of Culture title but all is not lost – look around seek out the amazing cultural treats this weekend that Moseley has to offer, especially now the sun is out again – Moseley is a pocket of culture that the city is sure to be proud of.

For the next two days there are many great things to get involved in. This Saturday there’s loads going on. Firstly though there are two exhibitions that are no longer on display as part of the art trail at the Prince of Wales please note the exhibition ‘Recollections’ is no longer there but there are some photos of 80’s Moseley on display; Robert Geogehegan’s work has been taken down from O’Neills due to work going missing; a poetry workshop run by Cannon Poets from 10am – 1pm on Saturday at the Moseley Exchange is taking place in amongst the artwork on show the film screenings will start from 1pm.

If you’ve not seen any of the art trail exhibitions yet at the various venues listed on the map then check them out before they close on Sunday – there’s something for all tastes. Late addition to the list is the Scribble Garden on Highbury Road just on the Moseley/Kings Heath border. On Sunday 18th from 11am visitors can relax and chat with the artists who have gone crazy with art on their garden wall.

For foodies there is the 2 for 1 offer to take advantage of at Deolali from 5.30pm to 7pm and from 6pm the Birmingham Buddhist Centre hosts a film and conversation cafe around the food industry. Get to the Prince of Wales for the regular Hog Roast in the beer garden from 8pm.

If you loved Tom Cruise in cocktail then recreate the movie with Tom & Cos in the Fighting Cocks as they mix up some treats to an 80’s music backdrop.

And then collapse at home safe in the knowledge that culture is well and truly alive in Moseley!

The evening gets off to an early start, as befits Friday. You can get two meals for the price of one if you go early to Deolali (5.30-7pm); Moseley Holistic Centre are running their ‘How to Manifest the Partner of Your Dreams ‘ course at 7.30; Rich Batsford and others play their eagerly-anticipated ‘Musituality’ concert at the Buddhist Centre at 7.30 .
